Lam Soon (Thailand)
was established in September 1974 when the Lam Soon Group decided to expand its palm oil business beyond Singapore and Malaysia. It became a public company upon its share listing on the Stock Exchange of Thailand in 1996.
Currently, the Company manufactures a wide range of extracted and refined products including palm vegetable oils, margarine, shortening and specialty vegetable fats. It operates a crushing mill with capacity of 45 tonnes per hour at Trang province, and a palm oil refinery in Bangpoo Industrial Estate whose production capacity at 700 tonnes per day or 255,500 tonnes per year.
The Company also holds a stake at 69.9% United Palm Oil Industry Public Company Limited or “UPOIC”. UPOIC and its subsidiary operate the oil palm plantations in Thailand, together with its own crushing mill, the major products of which include crude palm oil (CPO) and crude palm kernel oil (CPKO). UPOIC is also the largest supplier of CPO to the company’s refinery.
To lessen the business risk arising from fluctuation of CPO price and to broaden its portfolio of products, the Company has expanded its business with the acquisition of Universal Food Public Company Limited or “UFC in 2004. Under 40-year-old recognized “UFC” brand, UFC carries on the business processing and marketing of canned tropical fruits and vegetables, fruit juices, and seasoning sauces. UFC has 2 factories located in Lampang and Nakornpathom.
Besides, UFC holds 97% stake in Union Frost Company Limited whose businesses are manufacturing and selling of frozen vegetables and fruits. Its factory is located in Lampang.
